La Gran Marcha 2006

There are a lot of great pictures of La Gran Marcha 2006 over at flickr for those that couldn’t make it. Some report that this was the largest march in Los Angeles’ history. The following are slogans used to protests HR 4437 and make a good case against such ill devised laws:

No human being is illegal.

God has no borders.

1/4 of the soldiers in Iraq are sons and daughters of immigrants.

Never forget that everything that Hitler did in Germany was legal… Martin Luther King, Jr

Helping others is not a crime.

America fought to tear down the Berlin Wall. Bush and his friends are trying to rebuild it in our home.

Let America be America again! The dream it used to be!

Si callamos no avansamos

United We Stand, Why do you want to divide us?

Aqui estamos y no nos vamos!

We are America.

El que se tiene que ir es Cheney. Si se puede! Si debemos!

I wonder what the compassionate conservative have to say about the following:

Compasion is not a crime.

Jesus would be a felon.

So show your love for the foreigners for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. Deuteroaony 10:19

All that I would add is that We are All Immigrants!

[...] We might have forgotten the large immigration marches and protests that consumed so much attention last summer. All the marches and debates did not resolve the legal status of thousands of hard working individuals living in the margins of American society. It is hard to remember that we are all immigrants. The United States has had a lot of waves of immigrants that have been successfully integrated in the American dream after much debate and fears by those that where here first. Here is a video that describes the first large migration of immigrants, the pilgrims! [...]
